Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta GreenJackets 6-0 Monday night at State Mutual Stadium before 2,241 fans. It was Rome's eighth straight victory.

Three runs in the second inning proved to be the difference in the game as Rome's pitching shutdown the Augusta offense on three hits. Brandon Drury had an RBI groundout and Chase Anselment cracked a two run homer in the inning putting the Braves on top 3-0. It was Anselment's third home run in the last two games. Rome added two more runs in the third on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Kyle Kubitza for the 5-0 advantage. Drury picked up his second RBI of the game in the eighth on a single to score William Beckwith for the 6-0 final.

A.J. Holland (2-7) got the win for Rome going five shutout innings and giving up just three hits. The save goes to David Filak after four solid innings of relief, surrendering no hits and striking out five. Edwin Escobar (4-7) was charged with the loss. Escobar has not beaten Rome in his last four tries.

The Braves continue the series with Augusta tomorrow at 7p.m. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
