Riders Unable to Overcome Early Deficit

FRISCO, TEXAS (July 6, 2015) - D'arby Meyers hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to help the Arkansas Travelers win, 6-2, against the Frisco RoughRiders on Monday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The Travelers (5-6, 34-46) scored runs in three straight innings to build a six-run lead. In the second frame, Michael Snyder lined an RBI-double and later scored on a fielding error to give Arkansas a 2-0 lead. Drew Maggi led off the third with a double and scored off the bat of Brian Hernandez. Hernandez picked up his Texas League-leading 54th RBI.

In the fourth, Snyder worked a lead off walk and Wade Hinkle followed with a single. Myers snapped a 0-for-13 stretch with his first home run of the year and the Travs led 6-0.

Frisco (5-6, 34-46) found the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Ryan Cordell blasted his second homer in as many days. Cordell extended his hit streak to eight games with Frisco. J.T. Wise knocked solo home run to make it 6-2 in the fifth, but the Riders would not score again on Monday.

Frank Lopez (3-2) picked up the loss for Frisco. He allowed six runs, five earned, six hits and struck out three over 3 1/3 innings. Mike Antonini (1-0) struck out four in 5 1/3 innings to earn the win in his first start with the Travelers.

LHP Chad Bell gets the nod for Frisco at 7:05 on Tuesday night as the Riders look to win the rubber match. The Travs send RHP Michael Brady to the mound.
