Alex Liddi Named Texas League Player of the Week

SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Texas League President Tom Kayser announced Texas League Player of the Week honors for June 29 - July 5, 2015 on Monday, awarding Northwest Arkansas Naturals infielder Alex Liddi his first Texas League honor in his career.

Liddi accumulated multi-hit games in three of the Naturals four contests over the course of the shortened All-Star break week, including two home runs and five RBI. In total, the infielder went 7-15 (.467 AVG) with 4 runs scored, 5 RBI, 2 home runs and a double.

The hot week comes off a very productive June for the former Major Leaguer after he hit .309 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. On the 2015 season Liddi now stands with 9 home runs, 34 RBI, 6 stolen bases and a .295 batting average. Prior to signing with the Kansas City Royals as a minor league free agent in December 2014, Liddi signed with the Seattle Mariners as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of Albenga, Italy at age 17 and made his Major League debut with the Mariners on September 7, 2011. He most recently played in the Baltimore Orioles' organization in 2013, prior to playing with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers' organizations in 2014.

Liddi is the third player to earn Texas League Weekly honors for the Naturals in 2015, and it marks the fourth time this season that the Naturals have earned the honor. Naturals first baseman Balbino Fuenmayor, prior to his promotion to Triple-A Omaha this past weekend, took home Texas League Player of the Week twice, while Naturals starting pitcher Miguel Almonte earned Texas League Pitcher of the Week from May 11 - May 17.

Northwest Arkansas' LHP Jonathan Dziedzic (4-4, 3.73 ERA) starts game two of a three game series in Midland tonight against RockHounds starter RHP Jonathan Joseph (4-3, 3.02 ERA) for a 6:30pm first pitch. Tune in to the Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show with Benjamin Kelly set to hit the airwaves at 6:15 p.m. on 92.1, the Ticket.

The first half North Division Champions are 4-6 to begin the second half and return home for a four-game series at Arvest Ballpark starting on July 8 with a 7:05pm first pitch, followed by the CBS Sports Network OnDeck Minor League Game of the Week on July 9 at 7:05pm featuring a special Post-Game Fireworks Spectacular by Foghorn's.
