Frisco RoughRiders News Release
MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, rallied for a 4-2 win in 10 innings over the Midland RockHounds Thursday night in game two of a doubleheader.
The Riders (27-12) took the lead in the top of the 10th on a two-run single from Garrett Weber, who finished 3-5 in Thursday's game. Weber brought in Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Alex Burg, who both reached on walks earlier in the inning against reliever Trey Cochran-Gill (1-3).
Frisco tied the game with a rally in the seventh inning of the scheduled seven-inning contest. Luis Mendez brought in the first run with an RBI single, and Lewis Brinson tied the game with another single two batters later.
The RoughRiders fell behind early on a first-inning RBI single from Midland's Viosergy Rosa. The RockHounds (20-19) picked up their other run against starter Victor Payano in the third on a solo home run from Matt Chapman. Chapman was the last Midland hitter to reach base, as Payano, Jose Leclerc, and Juan Grullon (2-0) combined to retire the final 23 hitters they faced.
Weber, Mendez, and Brinson each registered multi-hit games for the Riders. Ryan Cordell finished 0-for-5 and had his Minor League-leading 37-game on-base streak come to an end.
With the road trip complete, the RoughRiders return home to begin a four-game series against the San Antonio Missions at Dr Pepper Ballpark starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. Live coverage can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App.
