PAWTUCKET, RI -- Former Indiana Mr. Football and Mr. Baseball Clayton Richard tossed five scoreless innings and earned the win in his Tribe debut as the Indianapolis Indians avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-0 shutout of the Pawtucket Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon at McCoy Stadium.

Pitching as the lone left-hander of the Indians' regular rotation, Richard (1-0) struck out four with two walks and four scattered singles. He tossed 93 pitches, including 55 strikes, in his second Minor League start of the 2015 season.

The Lafayette, Indiana native also worked six innings with one unearned run on May 7 for the Single-A Bradenton Marauders, and will now make his likely Victory Field debut on May 18 with a streak of 11 consecutive innings with no earned runs.

Top prospect Alen Hanson doubled, tripled and scored for the Tribe (19-15). Deibinson Romero also collected two hits and drove in his 20th run to tie for fourth in the International League in RBIs.

Chris Volstad pitched three innings and Blake Wood handled the ninth to complete the shutout of Pawtucket (20-14).
