Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

Dear PawSox Fans,

First, we'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support of the PawSox over the years. You are the best fans in Triple-A baseball!

By now, you've probably heard of plans to move the team to a new ballpark in downtown Providence. We know that many fans don't want to see the team leave McCoy Stadium, and like you, we will cherish our memories here. McCoy, however, is the oldest ballpark in the International League and is in need of extensive renovation. A national architectural firm has estimated that it will cost more than $65 million dollars to update and renovate it. Nonetheless, the Pawtucket Red Sox will continue to play in McCoy for at least two more seasons (2015 and 2016).

We are ready to usher in a new era at a state-of-the-art ballpark, where fans will continue to enjoy affordable ticket prices, seats close to the action on the field plus many other amenities that will substantially enhance the PawSox fan experience.

But we can't do this alone.

Right now, we are discussing a new proposal with statewide leaders to get a ballpark built on the banks of the Providence River. In the meantime, we need your support. Please take a moment to contact your state senator and representative to tell them that the PawSox are important to you, and you want them to support our efforts to build a new, state-of-the-art ballpark in downtown Providence. This is so easy to do when you visit http://supportoursox.com/voter-voice .

The Pawtucket Red Sox are the only Triple-A baseball team in New England, and it's important to keep them right here at home in Rhode Island. Please, take a moment now to visit http://supportoursox.com/voter-voice to let elected officials know that you agree.

Sincerely,

The Pawtucket Red Sox
