Ricardo Nanita Has Three Hits, Two RBI In 5-4 Win At Erie

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


(Erie, PA)-Ricardo Nanita went 3-for-4, driving in two runs, and the Fisher Cats opened a three-game series in Erie with a 5-4 win over the SeaWolves on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Nanita tied the game with a two-out triple in the sixth inning and added a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning as the Fisher Cats took the lead for the first time in the contest.

Erie (32-33) struck for three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jamie Johnson beat out an infield single and advanced to second when the throw to get him bounced away at first base. Brandon Douglas singled and stole second with Johnson scoring on the steal when the throw got away at second base. Michael Bertram then blasted a two-run homer into the batters eye to put the SeaWolves up 3-0.

The Fisher Cats (40-26) got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Travis d'Arnaud singled and was erased on a fielders choice by Mike McDade. Danny Perales then followed with his first home run of the season to make it a 3-2.

New Hampshire tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. After a walk to Perales, Nanita tripled to centerfield to make it 3-3.

Robert Ray made his second start of the season for the Fisher Cats, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out six. Erie starter Jay Voss had similar numbers, also allowing three runs in six innings with six strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats took the lead against Robbie Weinhardt (0-1) in the top of the eighth inning. McDade hit his Eastern League-leading 23rd double, moving to third on a single by Moises Sierra. McDade scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-3 and Sierra scored on a single by Nanita for a 5-3 lead.

Yohan Pino (2-3) worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win. Bobby Korecky picked up his third save despite allowing a lead-off home run by Michael Rockett to start the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Fisher Cats continue the roadtrip on Saturday night in Erie, Pennsylvania. RHP Chad Beck (5-2, 4.08) starts for New Hampshire. Erie counters with RHP Mark Sorensen (6-3, 4.58). Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 6:45pm.
