June 17, 2011 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
On Friday night in Altoona, the Senators pounded out a season-high 15 hits in defeating the Altoona Curve 8-4. Erik Davis started and was the recipient of most of the offense as he moves to 3-2 with the win. Five different Senators had at least two hits in the ballgame.
For the seventh time in their past eight games, the Senators led at the end of the first inning when Derek Norris drew a bases loaded walk giving Harrisburg a 1-0 lead.
The Sens exploded for six hits and four runs in the third inning, the big hit a two-run double off the bat of Tyler Moore. The six hits came from six consecutive hitters. Jordy Mercer homered for Altoona in the bottom of the fifth making the score 5-1 Sens.
Harrisburg plated two more in the fourth with Steve Lombardozzi doubling in Jonathan Tucker and Chris Rahl tripling in Josh Johnson. Altoona came right back with three of their own in the bottom of the fifth, moving to within 7-4, but that was all they would score on Friday night.
Pat Lehman pitched a perfect seventh, Cory VanAllen a perfect eighth with Zech Zinicola pitching the ninth in a non-save situation. It was the fourth straight game the Sens bullpen didn't yield a run.
Johnson and Rahl both had three hits while Moore, Derek Norris and Jonathan Tucker had two hits in the game.
Games two and three of the four-game series are Saturday. The doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m. with RH Brad Peacock on the hill in game one and RH Erik Arnesen on the mound in game two. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 5:15 p.m.
