RHP Nova Goes Back to Trenton's Active Roster

(Portland, ME)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Ivan Nova has been placed back on the Trenton's active roster from the Temporary Inactive List. Nova will start on Saturday night against the Portland Sea Dogs. RHP Eric Wordekemper has been transferred to the roster of the Staten Island Yankees (SS)

Nova is 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA in eight starts for Trenton this season. He was taken by the San Diego Padres in the Rule V Draft, but returned to the Yankees at the end of Spring Training. In Spring Training with the Padres, he was 0-0 with an 8.31 ERA in eight games. In 2008, the San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native went 8-13 with a 4.36 ERA in 26 appearances for Tampa. Nova was signed by the Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on July 15, 2004.

Wordekemper is 0-0 with a 1.08 ERA in eight games for the Thunder this season, with one save. He has also spent time this season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (AAA). He was 1-0 with a 8.10 ERA in six games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Last season, Wordekemper had a 3-2 record with a 3.93 ERA in 33 games (one start) for the Thunder, including six saves. He also appeared in two games for Tampa (High-A). He was originally selected by the Yankees in the 46th round of the 2005 draft out of Creighton University.

Trenton continues its three-game series against Portland on Saturday night from Hadlock Field in Portland, ME. Nova will start for Trenton against Portland LHP Felix Doubront (3-2, 3.30). Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
