
Curve win nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader 3-0

ALTOONA, PA - Sean Smith (2-1) had his best start of the season and Catcher Miguel Perez gave him all the support he needed as Altoona won in game two of Saturday night's doubleheader 3-0 over Akron at Blair County Ballpark.
Smith went the distance in the seven inning ballgame for his career long start and a struck out a season best seven batters in the four hit shutout. Perez, who has only appeared in three games for the Curve, jacked his second home run of the year. The three run blast was the only offense for either side as the teams combined for only six hits.
After Smith's seven shutout innings Curve starting pitchers have now thrown 20.0 scoreless innings in the series.
With the split of the double header Altoona (19-37) can even the series with a win Sunday. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 5:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network. Sunday's probable starters are RHP Yoslan Herrera (3-0, 4.13) for the Curve and LHP Mike Edell (1-0, 2.81) for Akron (35-20).

LINCOLN OUTSTANDING IN 1-0 LOSS IN GAME ONE
ALTOONA, PA - Brad Lincoln was stellar in another outing, but the Curve ended up on the wrong side of a 1-0 ballgame against Akron in extra innings in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Blair County Ballpark.
Lincoln pitched seven shutout innings giving up three hits, walking only one, and matching a career high by striking out eight Aeros batters. Lincoln lowers his season ERA below 2.00 for the first time this season at 1.95 and has now allowed just two runs in his last 31.1 innings for an amazing 0.58 ERA over that span.
The only run of the game came in the top of the ninth inning on a Carlos Santana solo home run.
