Aerodynamics...

Magic 8-Ball...The Aeros exploded for eight runs in the top of the eighth last night, part of a 12-run outburst over the final three innings that erased an early 5-0 deficit as Akron took game one of this four-game series 12-5. The eight runs in an inning were a season-high for the Aeros offense, and Akron also tied a season-high by drawing 10 walks in the game, including three by DH Nick Weglarz. The Aeros trailed 5-2 entering the eighth but loaded the bases on just 15 pitchers from ex-Akron reliever Shawn Nottingham. Altoona's Scott Nestor then walked in a run on four pitches, and RF John Drennen put the Aeros ahead to stay with a booming three-run double over the head of Gorkys Hernandez in center field. Drennen is now hitting .318 (7-22) with a walk, four doubles, a homer, four runs scored, and 10 RBI in five games since coming back up from Class A Kinston June 1st.

Mr. 400...Akron skipper Mike Sarbaugh earned his 400th career win last night in his 687th game as a manager in the Indians minor league system. Sarbaugh, who has never had a losing season in five previous seasons as a manager, is now 400-287 in his career for a .582 winning percentage. He has won championships with Mahoning Valley in 2004 and Kinston in 2006, and has recorded at least 80 wins in three straight seasons.

Did You Know...Sarbaugh shook up the batting order yesterday, as 2B Cristo Arnal hit second for the second time, C Carlos Santana hit third for the first time, 1B Beau Mills hit cleanup for the first time, and SS Carlos Rivero hit fifth for the first time.
