RHP Jeff Stevens Promoted to Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that RHP Jeff Stevens has been promoted to the Herd from Double-A Akron. To make roster room, LHP Reid Santos was transferred to Double-A Akron.

Stevens, 24, was 5-1 with a 2.51ERA and 1 save in 17 relief outings for the Aeros (28.2IP, 19H, 8R, 8ER, 11BB, 37K). He's allowed just one run in his last 10 outings, covering. 16.2 innings of work. On the year, Stevens averages 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings. He has fanned at least four batters in each of his last three relief outings (6.1IP, 13K).

The Indians acquired Stevens from Cincinnati on June 13, 2006 as the player to be named in the April 7, 2006 trade of INF Brandon Phillips. Last year, he went a combined 6-3 with a 2.81ERA in 49 games at the Single-A level in both the Reds and Indians organization.

Santos was 2-2 with a 7.20ERA in 16 relief outings for the Bisons this season.
