TODAY'S GAME: This morning, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Columbus Clippers in the final game of a four-game series at Dunn Tire Park (10:35 a.m.). Trailing 2-1, the Herd can earn a split of the series with a victory today. After this morning's game, the eight-game homestand will continue with a four-game series with Rochester, June 3-6. On the mound for the Herd today will be MHP Matt Ginter. The veteran has won three straight decisions, including a six-inning effort in Toledo on Wednesday. The Clippers will counter with RHP Garret Mock.
AWESOME MAY: RHP Matt Ginter is coming off an outstanding month of May. The veteran allowed just two runs in each of his five starts, going 3-0 with a 2.73ERA (29.2IP, 19K). On the last roadtrip, Ginter was 2-0 with a 2.08ERA. He defeated Columbus on May 23 (7.0IP, 1ER, 2K) before collecting a win on May 28 in Toledo (6.0IP, 2ER, 6K).
OFF THE SNYD: One hit hasn't been enough for OF Brad Snyder lately. Snyder has five consecutive multi-hit efforts with 12 hits in his last 19 at-bats (.632 batting average). He has also doubled in four straight games, and has four RBI and four runs scored over the five-game stretch. In the last week, Snyder has raised his average 54 points from .203 to .257.
STREAKIN: INF Josh Barfield enters today's game with a six-game hit streak. Since May 27, Barfield has hit .407 (11-27) with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and four runs scored. Yesterday, he became the first Bisons hitter to lead off a game with a home run this season. Barfield leads the Bisons in hits (62), extra-base hits (22) and runs scored (24).
BISONS BITS: RHP Bubbie Buzachero has posted a 1.56ERA in his last 9 games (17.1IP, 3ER, 11K)...RHP Rick Bauer is second in the International League with 15 saves...INF Chris De La Cruz was promoted from Single-A Kinston just prior to yesterday's game. In 8 games with the Indians, De La Cruz hit .333 (9-27) with two doubles and 10RBI.
CLASS IN SESSION: Today is the Bisons annual School Kids Day, sponsored by Alfred State College and NY State 529 Savings Program. In attendance will be over 10,500 students from 165 schools in New York and Northern Pennsylvania.
