May 29, 2013 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release
Nick Green gave the York Revolution another strong outing as the Revs won their second straight in Bridgeport 4-2 over the Bluefish on Wednesday evening at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The Revs will go for their first series sweep of the season on Thursday before returning home to kick off a homestand this weekend.
Green (3-0) tied a season-high by going seven innings, and allowed just two runs on six hits. It was the Revs' first quality start since May 19 when Green allowed one run in seven innings in a no-decision against Lancaster.
The Revs fell behind in the third inning when Strantrel Smith led off with a hustle double to right-center and eventually scored on a wild pitch, but the Revs had a quick answer.
York scored twice in the fourth to take the lead, as Andres Perez drew a leadoff walk on four pitches and scored when Andy Marte doubled down the left field line, picking up his league-leading 37th RBI. Wilson Batista added an RBI single to center later in the inning, giving York a 2-1 lead.
The Revs increased the lead to 3-1 in the sixth, as Marte, Cody Johnson, and Batista all singled in succession to start the inning, with Batista picking up his second RBI of the night.
Bridgeport inched back within a run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single to right by Alexis Gomez, but the Revs once again padded the lead as Eric Patterson led off the seventh with a home run to right, closing out the scoring.
York's bullpen left the bases loaded in each of the final two innings to preserve the win, as Michael Wuertz retired Luis Rodriguez on a fielder's choice at third base to end the eighth, and Juan Rincon retired Gomez on a fielder's choice to shortstop ending the game with his eighth save of the season.
Bridgeport starter Mike Parisi (1-5) suffered his fifth consecutive loss, charged with all four runs on 10 hits in seven innings.
York 's Kris Regas (1-2, 8.81) faces Bridgeport's Michael Colla (2-3, 4.31) in Thursday's finale at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
