York Revolution News Release

Chris Cody gave his team a much-needed solid start as the York Revolution downed the Bridgeport Bluefish 6-3 in a rain-soaked series opener at Harbor Yard on Tuesday evening. The Revs have alternated wins and losses, now 3-2 on their current road trip, and 20-19 overall for the season. They'll go for a series win on Wednesday night with two games remaining before returning home on Friday.

Cody (4-2) allowed just one run through 5.1 innings, striking out six against no walks while scattering seven hits before turning it over to his bullpen to finish off the win.

York gave Cody a quick first inning lead as Bluefish starter TyRelle Harris (1-3) walked the bases loaded with one out, before Cody Johnson ripped a line drive to first that Luis Lopez couldn't handle. Two runs scored on the error, spotting the Revs a 2-0 head start.

Bridgeport came back with a run in the bottom of the first, as Daniel Mayora led off with a double to left-center and scored on an infield single by Prentice Redman, cutting York's lead to 2-1. Cody stranded two runners, however, and also worked around a leadoff double by Yusuf Carter in the bottom of the second before settling in. Carter was stranded at third as the tying run when Mayora lined out to second, with Andres Perez diving to make a run-saving catch ending the inning and preserving the early lead.

The Revs padded their lead in the fifth on RBI singles by Andy Marte and Wilson Batista. The stage was set when Ruddy Yan bunted his way on with a hit, part of a four-hit inning for the Revs who had scored their previous two runs without benefit of a hit.

Salvador Paniagua launched a towering two-run homer down the left field line in the top of the eighth, increasing the lead to 6-1. It was his sixth home run in 11 career games at Harbor Yard, and his ninth in 22 career games against the Bluefish.

Relievers Joe Torres and Yunior Novoa each retired all four batters faced to carry the lead into the ninth. Stephen Penney was charged with two runs, primarily as the result of a pair of infield hits, but Rommie Lewis came on to retire Austin Krum on a soft grounder back to the mound, earning his first save with York.

The loss for the Bluefish was their 10th consecutive defeat.

The early innings as well as the ninth inning were played in rain, which caused a 44-minute delay at the outset.

York 's Nick Green (2-0, 4.08) will face Mike Parisi (1-4, 4.58) in Wednesday's game at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
