York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution suffered their third consecutive loss, falling 7-3 to the Long Island Ducks in front of 5,327 fans at Bethpage Ballpark in Central Islip, NY on Friday night. The Revs have run into the hottest team in the league on the trip as the Ducks improve to 8-0 in the second half with the win. The Revs fall to 5-3, but still lead Lancaster by half a game for first place. York will look to avoid the sweep in the series finale on Saturday night before heading to Lancaster for a three-game series beginning on Sunday evening.

After trading sac flies in the first inning with Jose Herrera delivering for York and Lew Ford tying the game for Long Island, the Ducks scored three times in the second and three more in the third to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

The bottom of the second began harmlessly enough with two ground balls but both went for hits on an infield single by Matt Padgett and a double by J.R. House just inside the third base line. Padgett scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball, and after a walk to Dan Lyons who moved to second on a stolen base, Ray Navarrete made it 4-1 on a two-run ground single that made it through the middle and into shallow center.

The Ducks chased Revs lefty Lee Tabor who was making a spot start before an out was recorded in the third inning. Padgett's bloop single to shallow left plated a run, while House lined a two-run single to left-center to make it a 7-1 game.

The Revs bullpen did not allow a run in six innings of work as Shaun Garceau lasted 3.1 innings, Geary recorded the final two outs in the sixth, and Ricardo Gomez and Michael Nix both fired scoreless frames.

The Revs offense was unable to make up the ground, however, stranding 10 runners on the night despite 12 base hits (all singles).

Herrera brought York within 7-3 on a two-run single up the middle in the fifth, driving in all three runs on the night for the Revs.

York mounted a rally on three consecutive walks from reliever Dave Williams with two outs in the seventh, but Vince Harrison's line drive to deep left-center was flagged down by Ford on a running catch to end the inning, and the Revs never threatened again.

Ducks starter Mark Diapoules (4-1) earned the win, allowing three runs while scattering 10 hits in six innings of work. He did not walk a batter and struck out four.

Tabor (2-1) suffered the loss, charged with all seven runs in two-plus innings.
