Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, NY) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 7-3 on Friday night at Bethpage Ballpark to extend their season-long winning streak to eight games.
York struck first to take a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly to center by former Duck Jose Herrera in the first. Long Island got a sac fly of their own off the bat of Lew Ford in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at one. A three-spot in the second inning against Revs' starter Lee Tabor gave the Ducks their first lead of the contest. Matt Padgett scored on a wild pitch and Ray Navarrete grounded a two-run single up the middle in the frame.
The offensive onslaught continued in the third as the Ducks brought home three more runs. A RBI single to left from Padgett and a two-run base hit by J.R. House upped the score to 7-1. The Revs cut the deficit to four with two runs in the fifth off Ducks' starter Mark Diapoules but could not get closer.
Diapoules (4-1) collected the win, pitching six innings, allowing just three runs while striking out four. Tabor (2-1) was the loser, surrendering seven runs on eight hits in two innings of work. Three Ducks pitchers combined to keep York scoreless over the final three innings.
The Ducks wrap up their three-game series against the Revolution and nine-game homestand on Saturday night. Game time is set for 7:05 PM, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. It's Military Appreciation Night at the ballpark, and following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Northrop Grumman.
