Revolution Rally Past Patriots with 4-3 Victory

York, PA - The York Revolution (32-28) defeated the Somerset Patriots (38-21) 4-3 Friday evening from Sovereign Bank Stadium in the series opener. York snapped their four game losing streak while Somerset squandered two different leads in the losing effort.

Somerset plated a pair of runs in the first to take an early 2-0 lead as the Patriots scored on an error by second baseman Andres Perez and first baseman Jake Fox stroked a RBI single.

York tied the contest at 2-2 in the home half of the third inning as left fielder Eric Patterson spanked a two run home run (10) to right-center field.

The Patriots retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning as third baseman Corey Smith slugged a solo home run (11) to left field to give Somerset a 3-2 advantage.

Patterson grooved a RBI triple to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the score at 3-3.

The Revolution took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when first baseman Andy Marte hit a towering home run (10) over the left field wall to give York a 4-3 lead which would be the final.

Michael Wuertz (3-1) earned the win in relief. Jim Hoey (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Juan Rincon notched his team leading 11th save of the season pitching a perfect ninth inning.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, June 24th when the Patriots return home to take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 p.m. The game features Bark in the Park Night where all fans are allowed to bring their dog to the ballpark.
