York Revolution News Release
Eric Patterson tied the game with a two-out triple in the seventh, and Andy Marte's third home run in as many nights gave the York Revolution an eighth inning lead in a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Somerset Patriots in front of 3,757 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday evening. The Revs snap a four-game losing streak with the victory, and win for just the second time this season when trailing heading into the seventh inning.
The Revs found themselves down early, as Somerset scored two quick runs in the top of the first. Jonny Tucker led off the game with a single to center and scored on a throwing error on Aharon Eggleston's double to right for the game's first run. Jake Fox then drove an RBI single off the top of the left-center fence for his league-leading 55th RBI of the season.
Patterson tied the game with a two-run homer to right-center in the bottom of the third, taking over the team lead with his 10th long ball of the year, evening things at 2-2.
Corey Smith quickly lifted Somerset back on top, 3-2, on a home run to left-center leading off the fourth, his 11th of the season.
Revs starter Brett Tomko settled in, having retired six straight before the home run, and five in-a-row after the homer, as he allowed no further damage in his 6.1 innings, logging his second consecutive quality start in the no-decision.
Patriots starter Josh Lowey allowed only the two runs on Patterson's homer through his six innings, but was denied a chance at the win as Patterson tripled with two outs in the seventh against his twin brother Jason Lowey to tie the score at 3-3.
Marte led off the bottom of the eighth with a towering homer to left, tying Patterson for the team-lead with 10 round trippers, and giving the Revs their first lead in five games.
York 's bullpen was flawless as Stephen Penney recorded the final two outs in the seventh, Michael Wuertz (3-1) notched his 16th consecutive scoreless outing with a 1-2-3 eighth to earn the win, and Juan Rincon retired the side in order in the ninth for his 11th save.
Somerset reliever Jim Hoey (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing Marte's game-winning homer.
