Revolution Outlast Patriots in 10 Innings, 5-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The York Revolution defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-3 in 10 innings at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

York broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the top of the tenth inning. Center fielder Peter Bergeron tripled to left field and scored on an RBI single by shortstop Ramon Nivar. Nivar stole second base, advanced to third on a fly out, and scored on a throwing error by Patriots right fielder Elliott Ayala.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, pinch hitter Alan Zinter (4) tied up the game at 3-3 on a solo home run to right field.

The Revolution took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Left fielder Kaz Tanaka walked and stole second base. Bergeron walked to put runners on first and second and Nivar followed with an RBI single to plate Tanaka. Designated hitter Nate Espy's RBI ground out scored Bergeron.

Somerset answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game up 2-2. Catcher Travis Anderson doubled and scored on an RBI double by second baseman Danny Garcia. Garcia came home to score on an error that allowed shortstop Teuris Olivares to reach first safely.

York regained the lead with a run in the top of the sixth inning. Nivar singled, stole second, and later scored on an RBI single by Espy for a 3-2 lead.

Revolution reliever Franklin Nunez (1-0) earned the win. Somerset reliever Brandon Knight (1-2) suffered the loss.

The Somerset Patriots 10th Anniversary Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday evening with a 7:05 pm game against the York Revolution. Thursday's game includes Baseball Gloves for the first 1,500 Kids in attendance courtesy of ImClone Systems. The Patriots will also welcome their 3,000,000th Fan in team history at Thursday Night's game.
