Revolution lose series opener

York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution lost a series opener for the first time this season as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs pounded four homeruns to claim an 8-5 victory at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday night. The Revs, still owners of the league's best record at 8-3, will look to get even in the middle game of the weekend series on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.
The teams traded blows in the early going, each scoring runs in the first two innings. Yunesky Sanchez gave the visitors a first inning run with a homer to left, while the Revs responded with an RBI single from Val Majewski. It was Majewski's 13th RBI of the season, second most in the league, and it plated Scott Grimes with his league-leading 14th run scored.
The Blue Crabs again went in front in the second on an RBI double by Jeremy Owens, but the Revs punched back with an RBI single from Octavio Martinez, plating Vince Harrison who had doubled in the previous at-bat.
The Crabs changed the game with back-to-back three-run outbursts in the fourth and fifth, however, taking a commanding 8-2 lead. Travis Garcia nailed a homer to left leading off the fourth, and Ben Harrison later lined a two-run shot over the Arch Nemesis. An inning later, Ryan Mulhern teed off with a three-run homer deep over the Nemesis. All four Blue Crabs homeruns cleared the Revs' signature 37-foot, 8-inch wall in left field.
Meanwhile, Blue Crabs starter Nick Green had settled into a groove, retiring 14 Revs in-a-row until Jason Botts led off the seventh with a single to right. The base hit extended Botts' hitting streak to 11 games, having hit safely in every game so far this season. With one out, Mark Ori slapped an RBI double down the right field line, and Harrison followed with a long two-run homer to the opposite field in right-center, his second homer in as many days, but that was as close as the Revs would come to their sixth comeback victory of the season, as a trio of Blue Crab relievers held the Revs without a hit the rest of the way.
