Loudoun Hounds News Release

Dulles, VA - May 13, 2011 - It is with tremendous sadness that the Loudoun Hounds Professional Baseball Club has learned that Harmon Killebrew, Corporate Advisor to the Hounds, has voluntarily checked into a hospice care facility near his Arizona home.

Mr. Killebrew was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December 2010 and began undergoing treatment immediately. He and his wife Nita informed the Hounds of his decision May 13.

Playing all but one of his 22 seasons with the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins, Mr. Killebrew hit 573 home runs to retire with the fifth-most all-time. He was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.

The Hounds and our parent company, Virginia Investment Partnership, have been proud to be associated with Mr. Killebrew since September 2010.

Bob Farren, CEO and President of the Hounds, stated, "Harmon is one of those rare individuals who had no ego and loved promoting the game of baseball at all levels. It will always be a cherished honor to have shared some great moments in the early history of the Hounds with Harmon. The thoughts and prayers of Hounds' Nation are with Harmon, Nita and his family in these difficult hours."
