Loudoun Hounds News Release
Dulles, VA - September 17, 2013 - VIP Sports & Entertainment, the operator of the Loudoun Hounds Professional Baseball Club and Virginia Cavalry FC as well as the Ashburn-based facility they will use, has announced an updated timeframe for the construction and opening of its stadium.
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved the stadium in April, and ground was officially broken in June. The construction site has been active ever since, including critical infrastructure and parking facilities. Moving forward, VIP S&E anticipates the beginning of the delivery of the precast concrete seating bowl soon, with installation in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Soon thereafter, the company expects to start the delivery of structural steel to begin the installation of the remainder of the stadium's superstructure.
"We have seen tremendous progress on a number of fronts. However, I regret having to announce that stadium construction will not be completed until third quarter 2014," announced VIP S&E President and CEO Bob Farren. "We continue to appreciate the support of our fans throughout this process and we look forward to the opening of the stadium upon the completion of construction."
Construction timing is shaped by the intricacies of one of the largest non-major league privately financed stadiums in the United States. As a result of this updated timing, the Hounds' popular FanFest will be held in early 2014 ahead of the baseball season.
Farren concluded, "We plan on opening the stadium in time for a portion of the 2014 season. We are working on a number of contingency plans for the Hounds and Cavalry FC to play in the interim. We will keep the community as informed as possible on these plans."
