New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution host Houston Dynamo FC at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, March 4 for the club's 2023 MLS home opener. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app. Callum Williams and Calen Carr will have the call in English, with Stefano Fusaro and Luis Gerardo Bucci providing Spanish commentary. Saturday's match can also be heard on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese. For all Revolution home games this season, The Sports Hub's local radio call can also be selected as an audio option in MLS Season Pass.
New England opened the 2023 campaign with a 1-0 with at Charlotte FC last weekend in front of a crowd of over 69,000 fans at Bank of America Stadium. The victory featured late heroics from defender Henry Kessler, who knocked home the game-winning goal in the 89th minute following an intercepted pass from Homegrown Player Noel Buck. Both Kessler and Buck, a 17-year-old midfielder from Arlington, Mass., featured on MLS Team of the Matchday for their performances in last Saturday's victory. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Djordje Petrović made four saves en route to his eighth MLS clean sheet in just 22 appearances since joining New England midway through the 2022 season. The Serbian international is now even with Walter Zenga for seventh-most clean sheets in Revolution history.
A pair of Revolution newcomers suited up for their club debuts last weekend in defender Dave Romney and forward Bobby Wood. Romney collected the start and played 90 minutes in central defense, helping the backline preserve the clean sheet. Wood appeared in the match as a substitute in the second half, replacing forward Giacomo Vrioni in the attack, and provided a spark over a 26-minute performance. Also in the attack, midfielder Damian Rivera, a 20-year-old from Cranston, R.I., formed a Homegrown Player pairing in the Starting XI alongside Buck. This marked the first time New England opened a new season with two Homegrown Players in its starting lineup since 2020.
Last weekend's victory was New England's 22nd road win since Arena took over as Sporting Director & Head Coach in June 2019 - the most in MLS over that span. Arena, the winningest coach in MLS history, is now one victory shy of his 50th win with New England. New England leads the all-time regular season series with Houston 13-6-7, including a 6-2-5 mark at home. In home openers, New England boasts a 16-6-5 record, including two wins and a draw in the last three home debuts.
