March 3, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
The month of February marked a significant milestone for the Inter Miami CF Academy, as five Academy products were called up by their countries for the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Tyler Hall (USA), Bryan Destin (Haiti), Victor Fung (Canada), Adrián Rosario (Puerto Rico) and Brandon Bent (Jamaica) were the Club's representatives at the competition that took place in Guatema. Let's take a look at how they fared:
Tyler Hall - USA
Beginning with the USA, Inter Miami CF Academy and Inter Miami CF II defender Hall and USA performed in a dominant fashion from the very beginning. In the group stage of the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship, USA went undefeated and outscored their opponents 9-1, defeating Barbados 5-0, Trinidad and Tobago 1-3 and Canada 1-0. USA then went on to be one of four teams that clinched a ticket for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru, finishing runners up after falling 3-1 to Mexico in the final. Notably, Hall had the honor of serving as captain for the USA squad throughout the competition. In all, he started and in five of the team's seven matches in the competition in Guatemala, playing the full 90 minutes in four.
Bryan Destin - Haiti
Academy forward Destin is no stranger to the international stage. Just 16 years old at the time, Destin made headlines in 2022 as the youngest player at the Concacaf U-20 Championship tournament. Now in 2023, he helped Haiti make it out of the Concacaf U-17 Championship group stage after collecting three points through a 0-3 win over Suriname, before falling short against Canada in the round of 16. Destin was part of Haiti's starting XI in three out of the team's four matches throughout the competition.
Victor Fung - Canada
Born in 2007, Academy defender Fung was one of Inter Miami's younger call-ups for the tournament. The Canadian side advanced to the knockout stages of the tournament after registering two wins in the group stage, topping Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 and Barbados 0-2 respectively, and subsequently went on an impressive run before falling to the USA in semfifinals, qualifying for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru and outscoring their opponents 11-5 in the process. Overall, Fung registered a start and a substitute appearance in the Concacaf U-17 Championship
Adrián Rosario - Puerto Rico
Academy defender Rosario was part of a historic Puerto Rico side. The team made history in the tournament after advancing to the quarterfinals, finishing just one win shy of qualifying for the 2023 U-17 FIFA World Cup. Adrian was an integral part of the team's success throughout the competition, logging over 200 minutes on the pitch.
Brandon Bent - Jamaica
In his first youth international call-up since joining the Inter Miami CF Academy, Bent featured for Jamaica's squad for the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Jamaica finished the group stage with a win, draw, and loss, before falling to host-nation Guatemala in the round of 16. Bent featured in the team's inaugural match in the competition by coming off the bench in the team's win over Cuba, and then started in the 2-2 draw against Costa Rica in the team's final group stage fixture.
