New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution will open the home portion of their 2022 Major League Soccer schedule on Saturday afternoon when the team hosts FC Dallas at Gillette Stadium. The home opener kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET on WSBK-TV38, myRITV, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio in Portuguese. CBS Boston's pregame coverage begins with "Revolution Kickoff", live from Gillette Stadium at 1:00 p.m. ET on TV38 and streaming on CBS News Boston
New England opened the new season with a 2-2 away draw at Portland last Saturday, registering its first point of the 2022 campaign behind goals from defender Brandon Bye and new Revolution midfielder Sebastian Lletget. Carles Gil, who will be playing at Gillette Stadium for the first time as the reigning MLS MVP, Tommy McNamara, and DeJuan Jones each recorded an assist in the opener.
Three of the Revolution's key offseason acquisitions - Lletget, forward Jozy Altidore, and defender Omar Gonzalez - all made their club debuts in last Saturday's season opener and will look to make their first appearance in front of the Revs' home support this weekend. Lletget became the first Revolution player to score in his club debut since Gustavo Bou in 2019. Goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. also registered his Revolution debut in the contest, logging three saves in his first MLS appearance since 2018.
Last season, New England compiled a 12-2-3 record at Gillette Stadium, matching the club's best-ever home mark in a single campaign, en route to the Supporters' Shield title. The Revolution have registered results in 14 of their last 15 home openers, collecting an 8-1-6 mark in that span. Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena, who carries a 19-6-11 home mark with New England, is one win shy of surpassing Sigi Schmid (240) for the MLS record for regular season wins.
New England leads the all-time series against FC Dallas, 23-19-4, including a 12-8-1 home record against the Western Conference opponent. Dallas has controlled the series as of late with eight victories and one draw in the last nine encounters. New England last defeated FC Dallas on Sept. 10, 2011, when the Revolution logged a 2-0 shutout win in Foxborough. FC Dallas battled Toronto FC to a 1-1 draw in its season opener last weekend.
