Academy Update: February 2022 Players of the Month

The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health is in the midst of a busy period of league play, facing off against several other MLS academies. During this period, two particular players stood out among the rest, making them our Feb. 2022 Players of the Month.

Beginning with our older age groups, U-15 player Mateo Saja was chosen as the Player of the Month.

"Mateo is a great example of a young man that gives his best effort every day and finds a way to consistently be the best version of himself. He has scored in the last nine matches consecutively for the U-15 team, with six of those matches coming against MLS academies. Mateo is currently performing at his best, a consequence of his talent and relentless work ethic. Congratulations Mate! We are all proud of you, well deserved," said Academy coach Victor Pastora.

For our younger age groups, U-14 player Eduardo Degering was given the honor of being chosen as Player of the Month.

"Eduardo recovered from an injury at the beginning of February and was an example both on and off the field throughout his recovery and comeback. Eduardo's attitude and performances allowed him to take the opportunity to be a starting goalkeeper in one of the U-15 team's official matches, in which he was able to keep a clean sheet. He has also trained with the U-15 team on a weekly basis and has consistently performed well. His growth as a goalkeeper and his team-centric attitude have been examples for his teammates and reflections of our values as a club," said Academy coach Pedro Cavalcanti.
