Reno Aces News Release
Reno, NV - Kyle Lewis drove in two runs with a 460-foot shot in the first inning of a Reno Aces (17-17, 61-48) loss to the Salt Lake Bees (14-20, 51-57) Wednesday night at Greater Nevada Field.
The Aces have had massive success this season against Salt Lake starter Jake Kalish, scoring 10 runs in 10 previous innings against the lefty in two April starts at Smith's Ballpark. Lewis kept the destruction train chugging with a two run bomb to slice into the Bees early lead, his 12th of the season. Lewis has at least one hit in 16 of 18 games since coming down from Arizona in early July. The Mercer University alum has been nothing short of incredible for the Aces this season.
Reno surrendered four runs in the first inning and had trouble recovering. The BLC Nine went quiet through the middle innings, mustering just six hits through six innings. The Aces tallied 18 hits, including four doubles, a triple, and a homer in Tuesday's series finale. They struggled to replicate that production in game two against Kalish and the Salt Lake bullpen.
Dominic Fletcher and Jorge Barrosa each had multiple hits in the loss. The duo added doubles at each end of the lineup, continuing strong starts to the series. Fletcher has two doubles and a homer in the set while Barrosa is 4-for-8 with two doubles and a run driven in. Pavin Smith drove in another run with a single, his second RBI of the week.
The Aces and Bees continue their series Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. PT.
Aces Notables:
- Kyle Lewis: 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI
- Dominic Fletcher: 2-for-4, 2B, RBI
- Jorge Barrosa: 2-for-4, 2B
The Aces are amid a two-week homestand from August 8th until August 20th at Greater Nevada Field, taking on the Salt Lake Bees and the Las Vegas Aviators.
