Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: Reno heads into game three of the four-game series against Tacoma looking for a quality spot-start out of RHP Bradin Hagens. The Aces enter today's contest with a record of 12-18 and on a four-game winning streak. A win today would give the Aces their fourth day-game victory of the season and 96th against Tacoma.

About Last Night: After a 10-1 victory on Friday night, the Reno Aces responded with a 7-4 win over the Tacoma Rainiers Saturday. With Kris Medlen getting a call-up Friday, Albert Suarez got the nod for Greg Gross on short notice. The former San Francisco Giants right-hander went 3.1 innings and struck out four in a no-decision. Anthony Vasquez got the win and moved to 2-0 on the season thanks to a three-run sixth inning by the offense. Jimmie Sherfy collected his sixth save of the year to move the Aces to 12-18 this year.

Four-peat: With last night's 7-4 victory, the Aces have now won four consecutive games and four straight from the friendly compounds of Greater Nevada Field. This marks the Aces longest winning streak of the season. In their last four games Reno has scored 27 runs on 38 hits, good for an average of 6.5 runs per game. The Aces entered the month of May averaging five runs scored per game. Their longest winning streak in 2017 was five games from 8/22 vs. Fresno to 8/27 in Las Vegas.

Sherf Save: Jimmie Sherfy collected his sixth save of the season tonight. Sherfy is the Aces all-time saves leader with 38. The University of Oregon closer is 6-for-6 this season and has made 10 total appearances. Sherfy has 72 saves in his Minor League career and one Major League save.

The Starter: Bradin Hagens will make his second start of the 2018 season this afternoon. Hagens climbed the ranks in the Diamondbacks organization from 2009 through 2014 and made his Major League debut with the D-backs on August 14, 2014. The right-hander was traded from Diamondbacks to Rays for cash considerations in 2015 and found himself playing for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 2016 and 2017. Hagens appeared in 61 games with the Toyo Carp before returning to the Aces roster in April of this year.

History Made: The Reno Aces Baseball Club has named Emily Jaenson General manager, the team announced today. Jaenson is the second person to hold the role of General Manager for the Aces, and the first female GM in the Pacific Coast League in nearly two decades. Jaenson will assume day-to-day baseball and business operations and report to team President, Eric Edelstein.
