Aces Winning Streak Climbs to Four

Reno, NV. - After a 10-1 victory on Friday night, the Reno Aces responded with a 7-4 win over the Tacoma Rainiers Saturday. With Kris Medlen getting a call-up yesterday, Albert Suarez got the nod for Greg Gross on short notice. The former San Francisco Giants right-hander went 3.1 innings and struck out four in a no-decision. Anthony Vasquez got the win and moved to 2-0 on the season. Jimmie Sherfy collected his sixth save of the year and the Aces move to 12-18 this year.

The offense was led by Ildemaro Vargas and Jack Reinheimer. Both Vargas and Reinheimer had multiple hits and drove in at least one run. Michael Perez got the scoring kicked off in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run off Tacoma starter Max Povse. With a 2-1 lead, Reno scored again in the third, sixth and seventh inning. A two-RBI double by Ildemaro Vargas in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Reno a commanding lead and they never looked back. The Aces have now won four consecutive games at Greater Nevada Field and four overall. Right-hander Bradin Hagens will look to extend that streak tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m.

Three-peat: With tonight's 7-4 victory, the Aces have now won four consecutive games and four straight from the friendly compounds of Greater Nevada Field. This marks the Aces longest winning streak of the season. In their last four games Reno has scored 27 runs on 38 hits, good for an average of 6.5 runs per game. The Aces entered the month of May averaging five runs scored per game. Their longest winning streak in 2017 was five games from 8/22 vs. Fresno to 8/27 in Las Vegas.

Sherf Save: Jimmie Sherfy collected his sixth save of the season tonight. Sherfy is the Aces all-time saves leader with 38. The University of Oregon closer is 6-for-6 this season and has made 10 total appearances. Sherfy has 72 saves in his Minor League career and one Major League save.
