
Rainiers Drop Second Straight To Reno, 7-4

RENO, Nevada - The Tacoma Rainiers (13-16) fell by a score of 7-4 in Pacific Coast League play against the Reno Aces (12-18) on Saturday night at Greater Nevada Field.
Eight-of-nine batters in the Rainiers lineup reached base safely as the offense posted 11 base knocks and drew eight walks. Center fielder Ian Miller (2x5, R), first baseman Daniel Vogelbach (2x2, R, HR, 2 RBI, 3 BB), and designated hitter Mike Marjama (2x5) all logged multiple hits.
Tacoma scored first with a run in the top of the first and the contest proceeded to play out as a back-and-forth affair for the first five innings of play. The Rainiers entered the sixth inning with a 4-3 lead but the Aces took over with three runs in the frame and added on a final run in the seventh to take away a 7-4 victory.
The Rainiers starting pitcher Max Povse (1-5) took the loss after allowing six runs on four hits over 5.2 innings of work. He struck out six, issued six walks, and surrendered one home run.
Mike Morin allowed one run on three hits over 1.1 innings of relief, while Lindsey Caughel tossed one perfect inning to wrap up the game.
Tacoma right-hander Christian Bergman (2-2, 3.18) will get the start as the series continues on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. PT. Reno has not yet named a starting pitcher.
