Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: It's Opening Night at Greater Nevada Field! Aceball is officially back in the Biggest Little City for the 11th year. Taylor Clarke will get the nod for manager Chris Cron and the home team this evening and will square off against the Albuquerque Isotopes and right-hander Jeff Hoffman. The Aces look to recover from a tough 1-4 road trip that started the 2019 campaign. Clarke was good in his first start, delivering five innings of work and allowing just two earned runs. Offensively, Reno was led by Diamondbacks' number 27 prospect Domingo Leyba. Leyba went 7-for-21 in the Fresno Series with a double and a triple.

April 8, 2010: W, 5-4 (F12) vs. Fresno Grizzlies: Future World Series Champion, Buster Posey, got the start behind the plate for the Grizzlies that day but it would be the Aces who would steal the show in this one. Left Fielder, Jeff Baily, homered in the bottom of the first becoming the first Ace to hit a home run in a home opener. RHP Kevin Mulvey threw 6.1 innings that day giving up just two earned runs, the longest outing for a starter in team history. He would also add a double offensively becoming the only Aces pitcher to ever double in a home opener. The game would end up going 12 innings becoming the only contest to reach extra innings in a home opener. Shortstop, Yunesky Sanchez, ended up singling home first baseman Brandon Allen to complete the walk-off win in the bottom of the twelfth.

Opening Night at Greater Nevada Field: Northern Nevada will welcome the 2019 Aceball season on April 9th at Greater Nevada Field. Reno will take on the Albuquerque Isotopes at 6:35 p.m. Former Bachelorette contestants Diggy Moreland and James Taylor, along with Ryan O'Flanagan (of Remo, Siracha fame) will be greeting fans throughout the game on the concourse, in addition to the first 1,000 fans receiving a 2019 Magnet Schedule!
