Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY -- Mac James singled home Jace Conrad in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Hudson Valley Renegades a 4-3 win over the Staten Island Yankees at Dutchess Stadium. The win is the Renegades third extra inning win of the season, and 4th walk off win of 2014. The victory puts the 'Gades in second place in the McNamara division, and puts them at 6-4 overall.

With the game tied 3-3 after ten and half innings, Jace Conrad led off the bottom of the eleventh with a single. He would move over to second on an Alec Sole sacrifice bunt. After the Yankees elected to intentionally walk Casey Gillsapie, Mac James came to the plate with runners on first and second. The former Oklahoma Sooner delivered a single to left field, scoring Conrad to give the 'Gades their sixth win of the season.

Hudson Valley received another strong outing from a starting pitcher, as DJ Slaton tossed six strong innings, allowing only one run and striking out four batters.

Staten Island struck first in the second inning, as Austin Aune doubled the lead things off. Yankee first baseman Bo Thompson singled Aune home to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.

The Renegades would respond by plating three runners in the fifth inning. Hunter Lockwood started the rally off with a single, and later swiped second. He then advanced to third on an infield single from Dominguez. Clayton Henning doubled into the left center field gap, scoring Lockwood to tie the game at one, with Dominguez moving to third. Dominguez scored on an RBI groundout from Jace Conrad, with Henning crossing home on a throwing error by Bo Thompson.

Staten Island would get one back in the 7th, as Isaias Tejeda doubled off Hudson Valley pitcher Ryan Pennell. Tejeda would move to third on a Jose Javier sacrifice bunt and score on a Devyn Bolasky ground out. Tejeda's run trimmed the 'Gades lead to 3-2.

Down to their final three outs, Staten Island mounted a ninth inning rally, as Thompson was hit by a pitch to lead things off in the ninth. He was pinch run for by Jake Anderson, who came around to score on a 4-6-3 double play.

Edgar Gomez pitched two scoreless frames in the 10th and 11th, allowing just one base runner and striking out three. He picked up his first win of the season to even his record at 1-1.
