Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Staten Island, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades lost 10-6 to the Staten Island Yankees on Saturday, in a contest that saw each team give away a lead twice before a five-run sixth inning put the Yankees ahead for good.

The Renegades came into the game on the back of the three-hit shutout of Staten Island at Dutchess Stadium on Friday, but it was the hosts who struck first on Saturday. Brady Steiger got things going in the first inning with a 2-run homer off Renegades starter Oscar Armenta. Hudson Valley rallied in the top of the 2nd, however, thanks to a Mac James double and an RBI ground out from Bralin Jackson.

The 'Gades then took the lead in the 3rd inning when Casey Gillaspie hit his second home run of the season, going deep against Staten Island starter Jordan Cote, but a 3-run bottom of the 3rd gave the Yankees a 5-4 lead heading into the 4th.

In the top of the 6th, with the score now 5-4 thanks to a 5th-inning sacrifice fly that brought in Coty Blanchard, the Renegades reclaimed the advantage with a 2-run single from Jace Conrad that made the score 6-5. In the bottom of the 6th, Staten Island touched Hudson Valley reliever Eli Echarry for five runs on six hits that made the score 10-6 and restored an advantage that the 'Gades just couldn't erase.
