
Higley Does It Again to Connecticut

Burlington, VT - The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Connecticut Tigers by a score of 10-6 at Centennial Field Sunday night. For the second straight game, Lake Monsters LF Justin Higley (2-4) was the MVP's for Vermont. Higley put together a second consecutive four RBI performance that included an inside the park grandslam in the eighth inning that put Vermont ahead 10-6. After five games against the Tigers, Higley has three homeruns and 14 RBI's.
The Tigers got all the support they could from their offense as they scored seven runs off of 12 hits. CF Rashad Brown (3-5) chipped in with a three hit performance and now has 12 hits on the season which is most on the Tigers roster. RF Ross Kivett (2-5) had a two run double in the third inning that gave the Tigers their first lead at 3-1. It was Kivett's fourth and fifth RBI of the season. 2B Domingo Leyba (1-5), LF Kasey Coffman (2-4), and 3B Steven Fuentes (1-4) each picked up their first RBI's of the year in the game.
The bullpen was rocky once again for Connecticut. They used four relievers that combined for three innings and allowed seven runs on four hits. LHP Tyler Ford (0-1) suffered the loss in his second appearance of the season. Ford pitch 0.1 innings and allowed runs on no hits.
The Tigers and Lowell Spinners start their two-game series tomorrow evening. Tigers RHP Chase Edwards (0-1, 0.77) is slated to face Lowell's RHP Jaimie Garcia (0-0, 0.00). Pre-game radio coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com .
