ABERDEEN, MD - The Renegades left seven men stranded as they fell to the division rival Aberdeen IronBirds, 2-7, in the season opener Friday night.

Starter Wilking Rodriguez picked up the first loss of the season, hurling 3.1 innings of eight-hit, six-run baseball. Righty Andrew Bellatti and Mickey Jannis combined to close the game out allowing just one run in five innings. Jannis hurled an impressive four innings of one-run (unearned), no-hit baseball and struck out four.

Despite an amazing effort at the plate by both Chris Winder and Cesar Guillen, who both went 2-for-4 on the night, the Renegades offense was only able to account for three more hits. Of the Gades seven hits only one came with runners in scoring position (1-for-14 RISP).

Aberdeen's offensive jumped out to a quick led recording two runs in both the second, third and fourth innings to give the IronBirds a six-run led. The IronBirds' offensive was lead by Austin Knight who recorded a 3-for-4 night with a run scored and one RBI.

Trailing 0-7 entering the ninth inning the Renegades bats showed some life. With two outs and runners on second and third, Brian Bryles doubled to center field to bring the score to its final, 7-2.

The Renegades take on the IronBirds in game two of the three-game series tomorrow night at Ripken Stadium. The Renegades will give the ball to righty Jason McEachern and the IronBirds will counter with Jake Cowan with first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
