Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Dutchess Stadium was host to a mini-home run derby tonight, as the Hudson Valley Renegades hung on for a 9-7 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Tuesday night.

The old New York-Penn League foes met for the first time at Dutchess Stadium since the Renegades became an affiliate of the New York Yankees. The Cyclones are the High-A East affiliate of the Mets.

The game was delayed by nearly an hour due to rain, but the weather wouldn't stop this game from happening as Josh Maciejewski took the bump for his scheduled start. Maciejewski threw well, going 5.0 IP with four hits, three earned runs, and six strikeouts. He did not factor in for a win.

The win would go to Charlie Ruegger (4-4) who got it for pitching 2.0 IP with one earned run and four strikeouts. Derek Craft pitched the ninth to notch his third save.

At the plate, the Renegades knocked eight extra-base hits including three home runs. Pablo Olivares had himself a day, going 2-2 with a double, homer, and three RBIs which was good enough to earn him player of the game. Josh Smith also had two extra-base hits on his ledger, finishing with two doubles in five at-bats.

Josh Breaux and Chad Bell also homered in the contest for the Gades.

For the Cyclones, they hit three home runs on eight hits with DH Luke Ritter leading the charge with a double, home run, and two RBIs. Francisco Alvarez and Bretty Baty also homered for the young Mets prospects.

Bryce Montes de Oca (1-2) took the loss in this one, going 0.2 IP with 2 earned runs. With the game tied at six in the seventh, Montes de Oca allowed five straight runners to reach with two ours. Walks to Bell and Olivares put the Gades up 8-6 at the time.

The Renegades will square up with the Cyclones tomorrow night at Dutchess Stadium at 7:05.

Per the State of New York, the Renegades are now open at 100% capacity. Tickets continue to be a tremendous value starting as low as $6. Visit HVRenegades.com for ticket information and so much more.
