
Relentless Rush of Runs Supply Somerset's Series-Opening Win Over Altoona

The Somerset Patriots overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take down the Altoona Curve by a score of 8-4 in the first of a six games series at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.
The Patriots put together 10+ hits for the fourth time over their last six games and struck out 10+ for the eighth straight game. Somerset extended its win streak to five games, over which they have outscored opponents 41-17. Their +63 run differential this season leads the Eastern League.
A combined effort of four Patriots relievers, including Steven Jennings, Lisandro Santos, Alex Mauricio, and Zac Houston combined to go 6.2 IP, allowing 0 ER and 4 H with 8 K.
RHP Gray Fenter (2.1 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 2 K) took the no-decision.
1B TJ Rumfield (1-for-4, HR) extended Somerset's lead to 6-4 with an opposite field solo blast in the 8th. Rumfield has now homered in four straight games, and his last five hits have left the yard.
His 11 HR are tied for the team lead and tied for 6th in the Eastern League.
C Austin Wells (1-for-4, RBI) put the Patriots in front with a two-run double in the 5th inning. Tuesday marked Wells' 10th multi-RBI performance of the season, tied for the team lead.
SS Trey Sweeney (2-for-5, RBI) put Somerset on the board with an RBI single in the 3rd, plating Jeisson Rosario. Sweeney extended his hit streak to a season-high 10 games, over which he's 14-for-46 with 4 RBI.
Sweeney's hit streak is the longest by any Patriot this season. Sweeney registered multiple hits for the 11th time this season, the most of any Patriot this season.
RF Aaron Palensky (2-for-4, RBI, 3 R) tacked a run of insurance on the board with an RBI double in the 8th, extending Somerset's lead to 7-4.
Palensky's 38 RBI between Somerset and Hudson Valley this season lead the Yankees organization. Palensky has six hits over his last two games including a pair of doubles and 5 runs scored.
