Reimold, Baysox Walk Off With Record-Tying Win

(Bowie, MD) - Nolan Reimold hit an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to deliver the Baysox their tenth win in a row at Prince George's Stadium. The 4-3 victory tied a team record for consecutive wins at home, set August 6 through August 21, 1998.

The Baysox scored in the second to take an early lead. Jeff Nettles singled up the middle to lead off the inning and went to second on a Nolan Reimold groundout. Ryan Finan drew a walk and both runners advanced on an infield single by Kennard Jones. Nettles scored when Blake Davis drew a bases loaded walk.

Connecticut tied the game in the top of the fourth. Carlos Sosa hit a one out double down the right field line. Kyle Haines singled down the left field line to score Sosa and was thrown out at second trying to stretch the hit into a double.

Carlos Rojas led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a single to right field and moved to second on a Lou Montanez groundout. Jeff Nettles followed the groundout with a single to right, scoring Rojas and giving the Baysox a 2-1 lead.

The Defenders came right back with a run in the top of the sixth. Ben Copeland drew a one out walk and stole second base. Travis Ishikawa was hit by a pitch and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Carlos Sosa hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Copeland.

Antoan Richardson led off the top of the eighth inning with a walk. Ben Copeland came to the plate looking to lay down a sacrifice bunt but wound up drawing a walk after an eight pitch at bat. Travis Ishikawa advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt and Carlos Sosa hit another sacrifice fly to give Connecticut its first lead of the game.

Connecticut took a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. Sergio Romo came in to pitch having not blown a save in eight chances. Jonathan Tucker led off with a single to left and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Rojas. Lou Montanez hit a single to center, scoring Tucker and tying the game. Nettles hit a popup to first for the second out before Nolan Reimold hit a ball into the left-center field gap to drive in Montanez for his second walk-off hit of the homestand.

With the win, the Baysox improve to 24-17 and are now 2.0 games behind Harrisburg in the Southern Division.

Bowie will attempt to set their franchise record for consecutive wins at home Saturday night against Connecticut. RHP Brad Bergesen (3-0, 1.38 ERA) will start for the Baysox, he will go up against RHP Nate Bump (0-0, 0.00 ERA). The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
