The Ontario Reign opened their first American Hockey League (AHL) season in team history Saturday night, visiting an old rival, the Bakersfield Condors, at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California.
Forward Kris Newbury buried two goals and an assist and team captain Vincent LoVerde grabbed the first AHL goal in team history and added an assist en route to a 5-0 victory. Goaltender Peter Budaj earned his 11th career AHL shutout stopping all 21 shots faced.
