ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings, 4-3, claiming their second consecutive win. Saturday evening's match saw 5,505 fans out at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Ontario drew first blood during a power play at 7:29 in the first period. Right wing Tony Voce received a feed from right wing Tim Kraus, who was just to the left of goaltender John Murray. Kraus flipped the puck over to Voce right in front of the crease, who slammed it past Murray.

The Reign penalty killers claimed a shorthanded goal with one minute remaining in the first period. Defenseman Shawn Germain and right wing Jon Rheault were out on a breakaway with only one Victoria defender between them and the goal. Germain launched a shot at Murray, and his bid bounced off the goaltender and out to Rheault, who threw the puck into the open side of the net. Rheault's goal closed out scoring in the first period and the Reign took their 2-0 lead into the second frame.

Victoria forward Andy Brandt put Victoria on the board at 13:32. His shot on goal went five-hole on Ontario netminder Curtis Darling, and the Reign's lead was cut to one goal.

Forward Dwight King answered back with another goal in the Reign column less than three minutes later. King found open net and fired the puck past Murray with an assist from forward Michael Pelech.

With only 58 seconds left in the second period, left wing Chad Painchaud took advantage of a Victoria power play and beat Darling with a shot that went top shelf. Defenseman Brandon Roach picked up the assist on the goal and the clubs headed into the final period of play with the Reign leading, 3-2.

Robert Pearce claimed his first career professional point with his power play goal 1:42 into the third period. Pearce smashed the puck past Murray with an assist from Shawn Germain, who picked up his second assist of the game on the play.

Chad Painchaud notched his second goal of the night and cut Ontario's lead to one goal at 7:42 in the final period. Painchaud took a shot on goal that bounced off the post and over the red line. The Salmon Kings pulled their goaltender, but were unable to convert on the man advantage. Ontario took the victory in their second consecutive game against Victoria with a final score of Reign 4, Salmon Kings 3.
