Elmira Jackals News Release

For the second consecutive night, the Elmira Jackals were unable to overcome a two-goal third period deficit as they fell to the Trenton Devils 3-2 at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J.

Forward Jeff Prough scored the game-winning goal for the third straight game against the Jackals, capping a weekend in which he scored four goals.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead at 2:24 of the second period on a goal by Prough after a deflection in front.

Jackals captain Olivier Proulx tied the game on a shot from the right circle off a feed from Tyler Donati at 8:46 of the second. Proulx's shot was deflected on the way and beat Trenton goaltender Gerald Coleman five hole to even the score at one.

Trenton regained the lead five minutes later, as Mike Harder fed Kyle Kucharski skating into the left circle, and Kucharski one-timed it home for the 2-1 Devils lead.

Prough scored his fourth goal of the weekend with under a minute to go in the second period with Proulx in the penalty box. Brett Wilson found Prough in the left circle who fired the puck past Jackals goaltender Michael-Lee Teslak for the 3-1 lead.

The game remained 3-1 for much of the third period until Chanse Fitzpatrick redirected a Wes Cunningham blue-line shot past Coleman to bring the Jackals back to within one at 15:31. The Devils prevented the Jackals from scoring for the final 4:29, however, and came away 3-2 winners, completing a weekend sweep of the Jackals.

Teslak, making his first start since October 23, made 28 saves on 31 Trenton shots as he fell to 3-1-0-0 in 2009-2010. Coleman stopped 29 of 31 Jacklals attempts, improving to 3-0-0-1 on the season.

The Jackals, now 7-2-1-0, will host the reigning Kelly Cup champion South Carolina Stingrays on Tuesday night at First Arena before traveling to Charlotte for a Friday game with the Checkers.
