ONTARIO, Calif. -- Curtis Darling out-dueled Sebastian Dahm Sunday at Citizens Business Bank Arena, stopping all 28 Alaska shots in a 3-0 Ontario win in front of 4,811.

The Aces lost for the first time in five games and were shut out for the first time in a regular season contest since last December. Alaska (7-4-1) remains two points behind first place Idaho heading into next weekend's games at home against Bakersfield. The Aces will play host to the 6-5 Condors Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m., with both games broadcast live on the flagship home of Alaska pro hockey, KFQD 750 AM.

With each team playing its third game in less than 48 hours, the Reign managed to get out of the blocks first, holding the Aces without a shot on goal for the first 11 minutes and grabbing a 1-0 lead on Jon Rheault's backhander off the rush at 4:36. Tony Voce rammed home his own rebound at 8:35 of the second period, the sixth power play goal surrendered by Alaska this weekend.

The Aces managed 15 second period shots and had two cracks at a five-on-three power play, but never solved Darling. An empty-netter by Greg Hogeboom with 1:39 left in regulation accounted for the final margin. For the 10th time in 12 games, Alaska was out-shot (33-28). Dahm saw his personal mark fall to 4-3 despite 30 saves.
