Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (33-10-1-2), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, were surprised by a Utah Grizzlies (17-19-2-4) comeback and took it to a shootout to beat them 6-5 Friday night before 6,316 fans.

The game was decided after four rounds of shootout when Brodie Sheahan scored the game-winner after Utah's fourth skater failed to beat Chris Carrozzi.

The Reign opened the scoring with an unassisted goal from Kyle Kraemer. He fired the puck top shelf from the right circle past Andrew Engelage's glove. While on the power play, the Grizzlies made a big mistake by turning over the puck in the neutral zone. Mario Lamoureux picked up the loose biscuit and moved it up to Colton Yellow Horn. He faked a slapshot, wrapped it around the back of the cage and backhanded it in. Ontario's Chris Cloud was sent to the box for a delay of game allowing the Grizzlies' Colin Vock to take advantage of the extra skater scoring a power-play goal just 11 seconds later. Back to full strength, the Reign answered back for their third tally of the night at 16:30. Everett Sheen picked up the puck and sent it to Kraemer who deked his way through the Utah defense and wristed it past Engelage ending the period 3-1 in favor of the Reign.

Brady Calla lit the lamp for the Reign just 2:38 into the second period. He picked up the puck off another Grizzlies turnover and timed his shot from a wide left angle to catch Engelage sprawled on the ice. Again, moments later the Grizzlies scored with Berkley Scott's first goal of the season. Yellow Horn got on the board again this time with the help of Cameron Burt and C.J. Stretch. The winger picked up a pass at the right faceoff circle and sent it in past Shane Owen who replaced Engelage after he allowed the Reign's fourth tally. The Grizzlies brought the score within one goal, 5-4, when they were given a five-on-three opportunity and Vock converted the chance for the team's second power-play goal of the evening and his second Hat Trick of the season. The Grizzlies kept the Reign fans on the edge of their seats knotting the score 5-5 halfway through the third period. Bryan Cameron scored the equalizer at 10:44 to send the game into a scoreless overtime period.

Carrozzi made 32 saves on 37 shots in his first game back from the IceCaps to extend the Reign's team record win streak to nine games. Engelage allowed four goals on five shots and was replaced by Owen who took the loss with 18 saves on 19 shots.
