BIG BEER TUESDAY / NASCAR NIGHT

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: After earning a point last night in Evansville, the Cyclones remain atop the North Division but they'll be tested again tonight - as they visit the Fort Wayne Komets to close out a three-game weekend. Cincinnati has earned eight of a possible 12 points against Fort Wayne, including three straight as they lead the season series by a 3-1-2 count. Including tonight, there are only three more meetings between the two rivals.

SCOUTING THE KOMETS: Al Simms' club got destroyed last night on home ice by the Kalamazoo Wings, dropping a 5-1 decision and now sit eight points back of the first place Cyclones. Brandon Marino has remained the Komets most dangerous offensive weapon, registering 50 points (14 goals, 36 assists) in 45 games this season. Brett Smith has also found great success, although he has a long way to go to catch Marino; in 42 games, Smith has 34 tallies (9 goals, 25 assists). With Ken Reiter called up to the American Hockey League, Charlie Effinger and Marco Cousineau will be responsible for the net minding duties. Cousineau allowed three goals on seven shots last night and shouldered the loss, running his record to 3-5-0 with a 3.41 goals-against average. Effinger, meanwhile, has amassed a 7-8-1 mark with a 3.61 GAA.

Goin' Streakin: A handful of Cyclones have gone on a tear of late. Mathieu Aubin, Dan Eves, Mike Pelech, and David Pacan have all earned points in six of their last seven games.

Shalla Returns: After missing last weekend due to illness, Josh Shalla is back on the ice for Cincy. He is the league's active leader in shooting percentage (26.3%) and ranks fourth in the ECHL with five game-winning goals. Shalla has amassed 20 points (15 goals, 5 assists) in 26 games this year.
