Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Sean Berkstresser scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Greenville Road Warriors to a 6-1 victory over the Florida Everblades Saturday night at Germain Arena.
The Greenville Road Warriors managed to get on the board early in the first period. Danny Hobbs took a shot from low in the slot, but was denied by 'Blades goalie Rob Madore. Marc-Olivier Vallerand picked up the rebound and acquired the goal for the Warriors only three minutes into the period.
Minutes later, the 'Blades got their chance to even the score on the power play. Mathieu Roy pushed the puck behind the net before passing it to a waiting Matthew Pistilli. Pistilli snapped the puck through a narrow opening on the net which beat Greenville netminder Scott Stajcer to tie the game at 1-1. With an assist on the goal, Roy ties his career high for points in a season with 46.
Greenville answered back late in the first period as Bretton Stamler fired the puck from the top of the slot past Madore. Stamler's goal gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead over the Blades at the end of the first period.
Greenville struck again halfway through the second period. Hobbs accepted a pass from Vallerand and fired the puck past Madore from the top of the crease. The lone goal of the period went unanswered and the period ended with a score of 3-1.
Greenville managed to get the upper hand early in the third period. Warriors Forward Jordie Johnston wristed the puck from the top left corner of the crease and managed to beat Madore.
At 6:03 of the final period, Sean Berkstresser took advantage of a crowded crease and slipped the puck past Madore's left skate, pushing the score to 5-1. The goal put an end to the night for Madore who allowed five goals on 29 shots faced, Madore was relieved by Pat Nagle.
Nagle blocked out the Warriors for the majority of the period, however with only minutes remaining the Warriors managed to sneak in another goal. Ryan Flanigan took a shot from the left side of the crease and flipped the puck top shelf into the net to secure the 6-1 victory over the Everblades.
Scott Stajcer earns the win, allowing just one goal on 41 shots faced. Pat Nagle allowed one goal on three shots faced in a relief effort. Berkstresser finished with four points (1g, 3a) and a +4 rating, while Hobbs chipped in a goal, two assists, and a +4 rating.
