Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced they picked up center Tyler Maxwell off waivers from Bakersfield.

Maxwell, 21, will suit up for the Reign after splitting the first part of his rookie season between the Utah Grizzlies, Salzburg EC, and most recently, the Bakersfield Condors. With three goals and six assists, he has recorded nine ECHL points so far this season. While playing in Austria with Salzburg, he earned 14 points with seven goals and seven assists.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound, Manhattan Beach local began his junior career with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. He then played in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips from the 2008-12 seasons and made the move to the Edmonton Oil Kings partway through 2011-12.

The Oil Kings went on to win the CHL's Memorial Cup with the help of Maxwell who, with 25 fewer games played then the Oil Kings' point leader, still ranked fourth on the team with 57 points (26g, 31a).
