ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, beat the Elmira Jackals 5-4 in a shootout before 5,643 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena Friday night. Chaz Johnson and Shawn Collymore each scored twice, and Jordan Morrison recorded three assists and a shootout goal.

The Reign was first to strike, as Johnson worked a give-and-go with Morrison and finished it with his 13th goal of the season at 2:14 of the first period. Ontario had gone five consecutive games without giving up a power-play goal, but the streak was ended by Michael Dubuc who tied the game at one at 9:38. Collmore gave the Reign a 2-1 lead, as he picked up a loose puck and lifted it high over Garrett Zemlak's blocker to record his 13th goal of the season. Elmira tied it at two on a goal by Patrick Coulombe at 19:22.

After a scoreless second period, Andrew Sweetland gave the Jackals a 3-2 lead at 5:22 of the third. Johnson drew the Reign even at three with his second goal of the game at 12:07. Justin Taylor set Johnson up at the top of the right circle for a one-timer that beat Zemlak. Elmira and Ontario again traded goals. Sweetland put the Jackals up 4-3 at 14:21 before Collymore's wrist shot found the back of the net to tie it at 16:10.

Neither team scored in the overtime session, and the game went to a shootout. Beau Erickson stopped four of the five Elmira challengers, while Morrison and Taylor each converted their opportunities, and the Reign beat the Jackals by a final score of 5-4.

Erickson saved 29 for the win and Zemlak saved 20 for the loss.
