
Reeder Hat Trick Leads Scorps To Victory

[ AMARILLO, Tex.]-Behind a four goal third period, the Scorpions beat Amarillo 6-1 Friday night. Konrad Reeder registered his second hat trick of the season in the victory.
Amarillo got out of the gates first with a two-on-one breakaway. Austin Sutter fed David Nimmo who scored his 41st goal of the season, giving the Gorillas the 1-0 lead.
Late in the period the Scorpions went to the power play and tied the game. Aaron MacInnis' slap shot deflected off the goalie Dan McWhinney's glove, then the post and bounced to Konrad Reeder's stick. Reeder calmly stuffed the puck into the open net tying the game at one.
The Scorpions grabbed their first lead of the game in the second period. Chris Robertson scored his 34th goal of the season at the 7:26 mark.
New Mexico took complete control of the game in the third period. Ross McCain scored in the opening minute of the third period to give the Scorps some breathing room. Reeder picked up his second goal of the game after getting past three Amarillo players and into the offensive zone with nothing but daylight in front of him.
McCain scored his second goal of the game 12:29 into the third period giving New Mexico a 5-1 advantage. Reeder finished his hat trick with his 40th goal of the season with just under six minutes remaining in the game.
The final regular season home game is Saturday, March 22nd with Amarillo visiting the Santa Ana Star Center. It will be "Fan Appreciation Night" with a chance to win $10,000 in cash, airline tickets or a beautiful safe filled with prizes.
