Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Bossier City, La. - The Rocky Mountain Rage's 2007-08 season came to an end tonight with a 2-1 loss to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the CenturyTel Center. Tonight's result proved immaterial in the end, though, as the Rage were eliminated from President's Cup Playoff contention once the Colorado Eagles won the Northwest Division title by earning one point in a shootout loss earlier in the evening to the Youngstown SteelHounds, securing the fifth and final playoff berth out of the Northern Conference.

Rocky Mountain fell behind, 1-0, 6:28 into the game when Bossier-Shreveport's Chris Brassard scored on the power play. The club rebounded with a power play goal of its own at 17:14 off the stick of Trevor Weisgerber to send the game to the second tied at one.

Neither team scored in the second period, and they headed to the third still deadlocked. Tyrel Lucas then pounced on a rebound to score the game-winner for the Mudbugs at 7:54.

The Rage finish the campaign with a record of 36-22-6 and 78 points, three points behind the division-winning Eagles. Despite the disappointing conclusion to the season, Rocky Mountain won 19 more hockey games than a year ago when the club end the year 52 points out of the division lead.
